Monday musings

A few things I am excited about:

1. I saw the Illusionist this past weekend. Very good movie. I'm not sure why it didn't do better.
2. Josh Koo is coming to visit in a few weeks from the 16th through the 19th
3. I love who the Vikings drafted and I'm excited for the future.
4. Spiderman 3 and all the other awesome summer movies that are coming.
5. The weather is gorgeous outside!
6. Russ is making a triumphant return from Indiana for a few days.6
7. I'm buying a new car.
8. A lot of people are graduating and I will get to see more of them in the summer time.
9. The beautiful weather deserves another spot.
10. George W. Bush's approval ratings are still in the thirties.
11. Harry Potter comes out soon.

senseless

I got home last night and was glued to my TV. I woke and immediately read the Pioneer Press, Star Tribune, and USA TODAY. I am completely fascinated by the Virginia Tech massacre. What could possibly go through the mind of this kid. This kid who happens to be the exact same age as me. He is a senior, born in South Korea, who was caught up in a love triangle and then went crazy. First off, any of these idiot reporters who blame Virginia Tech and other security officials are way out of bounds and are just hoping their name appears in ink somewhere. There is nothing anybody could have done to prevent this. What was V-Tech supposed to do? Were they supposed to have an armed security guard in front of every building every hour of the day? It was a tragedy of epic proportions but the only one to blame is the gunman himself. My prayers are with the friends and family of the victims. In good news,

Imus Rant

Am I the only one who's had it up to here (John point somewhere between his chest and genital area) with all of this Don Imus being fired shit. There, he has been fired. Great! Move on. Yes, Don Imus said a deplorable and disgusting comment when he for no reason said the Rutgers women were nappy haired ho's. That was wrong. Imus is shock jock who has been a radio legend for forty years for making disgusting comments. Why is this news? And I am so fucking sick of Al Sharpton and Jesse James' Rainbow Coalition acting like they give a fuck when a white man says something while they suck up to the 50 cents and the MIMS of the world. Al Sharpton, although fun to make fun of, is a classless racist. Sharpton has been sued numerous times for libeling police officers, journalists, et cetera with his racist shit. Why should Don Imus have to go on Sharpton's show to apologize like Sharpton is the voice for moderate, progressive thinking African Americans. Don Imus will take a breather for a few months, recover with a hefty salary before or after Howard Stern and be just fine. The only losers in all of this are the people who care about news and sick and tired of Anna Nicole Smith's baby's daddy and Don Imus. Sharpton is proven anti-white, anti-jew, anti-anything not far left and I wish he would stop parading around pretending to be the 21st century African American voice. Okay, I'm done with the Imus rant and I will continue watching the Minnesota Twins pummel the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Los Angeles

As I mushed through the five inches of snow we received last night, I reflected upon how much I absolutely loved my time I spent last week in Los Angeles. It was sixties at night and mid seventies during the day. Besides that, I have never seen such diversity in my life. I'm not just referring to skin color, but I was utterly amazed at the sight of a wealthy businessman at a street corner next to a kid still reveling in the 1980's punk scece belting out poorly his version of The Cure's greatest hits standing next to a street preacher. What an amazing scene. Oh, and the women were okay too... Sometimes when I spend too much time in Iowa or in the suburbs of the Twin Cities I forget about what an incredibly magical world is just out there for me to explore. Don't get me wrong, I love Minneapolis but it has nothing on LA. I stayed in Hollywood with a view of downtown on one side, and the Hollywood Hills on the other. Hollywood itself was fairly fun down and dirty but everything else was cool. I'd love to see Malibu and Santa Monica and all of those places but I didn't get a chance. Oh, did I mention I got Jay Leno's autograph? What a guy.
