Guess who has a case of the Monday's?

I can't believe the weekend went by so quickly. I had a great time watching movies, drinking small bottles of alchohol, with Andrew, Jim, and the Colorado girls on Friday. I saw two movies, my cousin Vinny, a comedic classic, and the movie 23. When we first rented 23 I was not pleased but as the movie progressed, it became more then just watchable. I will give the movie a solid B. It was choppy and hard to follow at times but also enjoyable. Here is what else I think I think:

1. I went to eat at a restaurant in Minneapolis called 20:21. It is an expensive Asian Restaurant but I had the best pot-stickers as an appetizer I have ever had and the best Lamb Chops I have ever had. Total bill for two people including tax and tip... $55.00.

2. You know how every single airport has a three digit code? The code for the Sioux City, Iowa airport is: SUX. That made me chortle.

3. I just finished watching Season III of Entourage. I wish this wasn't on HBO. It is a really good show.

4. I'm not happy the Red Sox swept the Rockies. I'm also tired of all Chicago Cubs fans saying, "I'm a Red Sox fan. They've always been my American League team." Bull shit. The Red Sox are not lovable losers. They are corporate, fat cats, with as big of wallets as George Steinbrenner. Plus, they have won two of the past four world series.

5. I have been perusing the new Eric Clapton autobiography. It is excellent. It is not the usual rock star's autobiography with boasting of female conquests, excessive drug use, et cetera. Clapton actually explains in detail the ins and outs of what a professional musician's life is like.

6. May I be the first to say that Arnold Schwarzanegger is a Republican but he is also a fantastic governor. I never would have believed it. He has: $222.6 billion in public works improvements over 20 years, to be paid partly by $68 billion in new general obligation bonds-- 550 miles of new carpool lanes, 750 new highway miles, 600 miles of new commuter rail lines and 8,500 of bicycle and pedestrian paths -- $26.3 billion for new charter and technical schools, 2,000 new smaller public schools, and modernization of 140,000 classrooms -- Two new prisons -- A new crime lab -- Repair and reconstruction of California's aging infrastructure, including ports, dams, power plants, levees, bridges, prisons, mental hospitals, parks and the state's 50,000 miles of freeways. He has done all of this while not raising taxes and he has cleaned up for Governor Grey Davis's financial mess, California is leading the charge to fight global warming, he has raised the minimum wage by $1.00 an hour over what it used to be, his chief of staff is a lesbian. He is the best Republican I have ever seen! Let's hope if Mitt Romney becomes president, he will follow Arnold's lead.

Tuesdays with John

I apologize for the long delay since my last post. I have been a bit busy mentally but I'm back in full blogging force. I just got back from beautiful Mankato, MN with some fresh thoughts in wish I will opine about:

1. For all of those familiar with Conan O'Brien's Pale Force. You can be a member by completing this essay (50 words or less) on why you should be a member of Pale Force:
http://www.nbc.com/Late_Night_with_Conan_O'Brien/Pale_Force/exclusives/contest.shtml?loc=interstitialskip. You also have to submit a picture. "My" picture is the infamous James Winstead eating pancakes. It is the definition of Pale Force.

2. I think I have finally found a good comedy on network TV. Monday nights, 8:30 cental time is a new comedy called Rules of Engagement. It is very funny.

3. I see that Kid Rock was arrested two nights ago after getting into a fight over a stripper at a Waffle House. Could you be a little more White Trash? Seriously.

4. Call me a nerd, but I enjoy the Lord of the Rings movies, the X-Men Movies, the Star Wars, et cetera. I am very intrigued that George Lucas is in the works to make a Star Wars television series. Very intrigued.

5. Finally, I really really enjoyed the movie, The Motorcycle Diaries about the life of Cuban hero, Che Guevara. My critcism is that it stopped with his life at about 23 years old. Well, there is a sequal starring Benicio Del Toro that is being filmed right now that picks up when Che first meets Fidel until his death in Bolivia. I don't know what I'm more excited about, this movie, or Wolverine: the movie. Okay, I'm more excited for the Che Guevara movie but this is close.

The key to Milwaukee

This past weekend, to escape from the world, my family and I took a trip to good ol' Milwaukee to visit my Dad's side of the family. It was fun. There were a lot of old jokes, good food, and good times. The highlight might be courtesy of my sister. I had heard of this show called, "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" but I had never watched an episode. My sister just bought Season One on DVD and after watching four seasons I will be tuning in regularly. It is smart, witty, and very under-rated. I don't know why I haven't heard more about this show.

Emo in Calvin Klein

I feel like an emo kid from a late night MTV video (think AFI) but I am wearing the most corporate outfit known to man. A dark suit with a white dress shirt and a conservative tie. Inside, I am bitter, pissed off, but I work in corporate America where greed is the only acceptable form of emotion. I've moved on from wanting to punch everything in sight to now I just want normalcy back in my life. I would like to know where I am going to live in the next few weeks. I would like to know what certain people are really doing on weekends when I am away. I want to paint my hair black again to reflect the hue of my heart. I am very thankful. There has been an outpouring of support from many friends which has made life better. Thank you.

While reading about the five stages of grief, I have noticed that the order isn't always correct and I seem to go something like this: 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 1, 1, 1, 2, 5, 3, 2....

Sports has always been an escape for me. It is now making me more pissy.

I have to work tonight on a Friday night (late) and that makes me sad.
